I've got a .40 caliber P229. I absolutely love it and I would recommend it to anyone provided it fit their hands well. So, I recommend the P229 with the above caveat. The DA pull is pretty rough but the SA pull after the first shot is quite nice. I think you'll be happy with it in 9mm as well; it handles about the same either way. The P226 is essentially the same gun but bigger, so if that is what fits you better then you're getting the same quality. Happy shooting, hope whatever you pick serves you well!

I have a 220, 226, 239, soon to have 229. My favorite always has and always will be the 220 in .45acp for defensive carry. Competition however I would go with the cheaper 9mm. It is gonna come down to personal preference as to which would suit you better. YOU CANT GO WRONG!

BINGO ! Guns are like shoes, you can look at them all day long, but until you actually try them on, helps you make your best decision.

    BTW.........Sigs are great.

I shot my P226 in .40 for USPSA for quite a while and did not feel undergunned. All Sigs are great but as others mentioned the P220 is rare in 9mm and in .45 you are down 2 rounds in limited 10 and not eligible for Single Stack.

I would go with the P226 in .40and get a Barsto barrel or the P229 in .40. The P229 was developed for .40 and the P226 for 9mm. You will be limited to 10 rounds in Production and Limited 10 but can shoot Major with the .40.

P226 is a great weapon... but if I had the money I'd buy a P229 right now.... both are a little heavy IMHO for carry, but both are great guns.
