Let me walk to the top of the mountain here so that you can hear me shout it..."GLOCK 19!!!!!!! REPEAT!!!! GLOCK 19!!!!!!"
That is a tough call, I own the 23 which is a great firing gun, but I do really like the 9mm round. Look at info between the two rounds, they are both great rounds. I think I like the 9mm better due to the fact that ammo is cheaper hinch more trigger time with a 9mm if you are on a budget. I also looked at defense ammo, and the 9mm +P and the .40 cal are pretty close from what I read. Also with the 9mm you're gunna have less recoil which is going to get you back on target a little quicker for a quility follow up shot if required. My next pistol that I'm going to buy is going to be the G26 for my EDC, and I plan on getting the conversion kit and stuff for my G23 to make it a 9mm. I might make my converted G23 my HD weapon once I run enough rounds thought it to make sure I I don't have any jamming problems. Both will be great weapon, just depends on what you want.
I love the G23, and will never really understand the concern with the recoil of the .40, which I find to be nearly the same as the 9mm in the same size gun. My daughter is 17, 5' 5", and a fairly new shooter. She loves to shoot my G23, and can shoot it quite well. Don't sell your women folk short!
