Taurus TCP range report
I picked up a TCP at a gunshow a couple of weeks ago, got my first chance to try it out today.
Put 70 rounds through it - 50 of 100gr ball from an independent manuf. (gunshow purchase) and 20 rounds of Magtech 77gr HP's.
From 7-10 yards it shoots about 4" low. Recoil was not bad at all considering the size & weight of the gun.
Before shooting, I painted the front sight orange and the rear sight flat black just to make them more visible to my old eyes.
One magazine (gun comes with two) would lock the slide back after five rounds, the other worked flawlessly. While giving the gun it's initial cleaning, I disassembled one mag, cleaned and lubed it but not the other one. I'm guessing the uncleaned one was the problem child. After the third or fourth loading it functioned fine.
Had one FTF with the ball ammo, I'll write that off to an ammo problem rather than a fault with the gun itself.
Overall I'm pleased with the little bugger. I need to put more ammo downrange with it, but at $1.00 a round for premium ammo (when you can find it!) it may be a while before that happens.
Good report. I looked at one of these yesterday and it felt very good in hand. Let us know when you get a chance to put more ammo down range and how it goes. Thanks.
Hope the TCP serves you well.
I've gotten to shoot mine twice now, and so far no problems to report. Flawless functioning with FMJ and JHP, though like the OP I can't put too much JHP through it simply because of price.
I have one of these pistols also. Shot 100 rounds ( All FMJ) downrange, and it's really accurate for me at 7-10 yards.. I did clean and tension the mags. before shooting. All in all I had one failure to fire, and one double feed. Could have been the ammo, as I changed brands (Half way through) and no issues.. Gotta learn the types it DOESN'T like.. LOL
Hope this helps anyone on the fence. Also, as a pocket holster the Desanti Nemesis (Spelling) works perfectly..
I did get a Nemesis holster. For those interested, it's the same holster as for the P3AT & LCP.
