Pictures of PPS (9mm) and PK380

    Hello:

I am looking at a few guns to "complete" my current collection. I would like both a 380 and a 9mm, so I thought I would ask some questions...

    1. Can anyone post a picture showing a few angles comparing a pk380 to the PPS (9mm)?

    2. While I know the specifications of each, I am looking for thoughts on the preference of the PPS 9mm to the XD(m) 3.8 (9mm).

    Thanks for the help.

    Sincerely,

    Dwe

    Welcome to the Forum.

I'll take some pics when I get home.

Wow, by looking at those pics, it would be hard to justify picking up the PK380 over the PPS, at least size-wise.

Definitely a vote for the PPS after those pictures.

Putting the size comparison aside, remember they both have a different feel/hand fit.

I like my PPK, and I like my PPS. I bought a kel-tec P3AT for pocket carry, it's a little kicking mule when fired. I really don't get the PK380. It's too big for a .380 handgun, carry a PPS or similar in 9mm, the recoil is about the same. The PK380 just doesn't make sense to me, but hey, just my opinion.

The PK380 is great for people who have a hard time racking a slide.

Also the bigger size and smaller caliber means practically no recoil.

Question In the SAME boat as you...

I just got a PK380. The "reasoning" behind that purchase was several logical ones (not based on hype, but practicality) and here they are...

    1. Price: Far less money than MOST 9mm singles stacks ($300 new)
    2. Less Recoil: 2 reasons... WIFE shoots too & 2nd shot ACCURACY!
    3. Larger than most 380 "small/micro" pistols: I cant stand my pinky finger being left off the handle! I dont want an extended Mag either!
    4. Size: Thin, easy to conceal carry and a recent model pistol w/modern safety features. (not all of us are 1911 packing old gun dawgs that have a huge gun safe with an armory worth going to battle with)
    5. Ergos: Fits my hand like a glove! Total confidence and control.

NOW... about your decision of the PPS vs XDm 3.8

I am in the same boat as you!

I am looking to get a 9mm for my primary HD firearm. Those are the exact 2 models I am considering! (weird)

PPS: Thin single stack, similar in feel and style as my PK380
XDm: 19cap magazine, thicker gun, many unique safety features

I like both of them for "THEIR" good reasons... just cant decide on which one to go with for my Primary. I will also be using this as a CCW too.

Both fit good in my hand...

You're absolutely right... COMPLETELY different feel in the hand. The PK380 is molded to fit your hand. It is extremely comfortable to hold and shoot. The PPS (at least to me) is not as comfortable to hold. It feels "angular" in my hand. Also, I don't like the ribbing on the back of the grip, it hurts my hand to shoot.

If its primarily going to be an HD gun then definitely go with the XDM.

Just my 2 cents....I bought my eife a PK380 fter her Bersa became a POS......surprised her...she HATED it.....after fumbling with the mag release, she said "why would you think Iwould like a gun where the mag release is right by the trigger....that fereaks me out to be messing around the trigger"....and I have a PPS and love the mag release, BUT I am not concerned with messing around by the trigger....so I learned a lesson, besides the obvious one of having her pick out the gun, and that is what I may be comfortable regarding guns is not what she may be comfortable with.

So, i went to a gun show here in Tampa and the mega dealer had sig P232's in two tone stainless for $475.....BEST choice by a long shot...she loves it, loves the trigger, everything about the gun....you may want to look that direction. I do love my PPS by the way.
