    Semi-auto .357 Magnum?

A buddy of mine is looking for a Semi-auto chambered in .357 Magnum. The only manufacturer that he has found that makes one is Desert Eagle. Does anybody know of any others?

Using this kit: Display Products you can convert a FNP 40 to a .357 auto simply by changing the barrel.

All I can think of besides the DE is the LAR Grizzly and the Coonan B. The AutoMag was available in .357AMP in addition to .44 AMP, but I've never seen one.

To the best of my knowledge, the DE .357 Auto Mag was the only gun capable of shooting .357 Mag round in a semi auto format.

(edit) Thanks Rugergirl, I forgot about the Coonan.

That kit does not make the gun capable of shooting .357 Mag ammo, it allows the chambering of the .357 Sig round. Two totally different rounds.

I have no experience with the kit, but according to the manufacturer and someone who did the conversion on the FNH forum, that's all you need.

If you're serious, talk to the manufacturer. If it's a true complete conversion, it's a very viable alternative.

The Coonan and AutoMag are the only others I can think of off hand. The AutoMag grips much better than a Desert Eagle, but you pretty much have to reload 44AMP.

Desert Eagles can be very finicky with type/brand ammo.

What's being talked about on the manufacturer's site is the .357 SIG, not the .357 Remington Magnum, the OP is asking about the .357 Remington Magnum.

A .357 magnum will not even fit in a .40's magazine, you can't physically convert them.

Search Gunbroker.com for "coonan" - There are two listed right now.
The Coonan does function Very Well and really feeds the .357 Mag with amazing reliability.
A great vintage gun BUT Be Warned - expect to pay at least $100.00 each for extra magazines.

The DE was brought up, those are all hype IMO, just be leery of them if you ever look into them.

Parts break, expensive, unreliable, jam prone...the list goes on.

The LAR Grizzly was chambered in 45 WIN MAG,then they came out in 357 Magnum,10MM,44 magnum, and 50 AE,I have a Mark 4 in 44 Magnum. They no longer make Grizzlys, but they can be found on Gunbroker.com,you will pay over $1000.00 and probably closer to 1500.00,They got one listed that was special ordered by Sylvester Stallone, starting bid $5900.00

Had a shot at one years ago but didn't have the cash. Should of sold a few guns and bought one.
