    Talking New S&W 642

This forum is a bad influence on me! I was perfectly happy carrying my Kimber until I started reading all the posts about snubbys and BUGs. I ended up catching the "bug" and just had to go out and buy myself a new 642 the other day. After cleaning and familiarization, I went out the following day and ran a hundred rounds of PMC .38 special thru it, and then 5 Gold Dot Speers for short barrelled revolvers. With warmer weather coming, I figured it would be easier to conceal than my Kimber 5", but honestly, the Kimber is more fun to shoot! The little light weight Smith is a bit "snappy" compared to the heavy 1911. I carried it to my part time job yesterday, and it definately is going to become my main summer carry gun if I am wearing anything dressier than my normal levi's or cargo pants.

Congrats on your purchase of your new 642. It's not necessarily "fun" to shoot, but it's so darned easy to carry! Practice practice practice and you'll be surprised how accurate that little bugger can be. I wouldn't give my 642 up at all.

The 642 is the gun you will pass on to your son and he will pass it on to his. They are timeless.

Don't have any sons, but do have daughters and granddaughters that will get my guns when my wife and I pass on. They'll get a couple other Smith's and Winchester's and a Kimber as well.

That snubbie makes a great EDC or BUG...

Although I carry a Glock, I will sometimes put the S&W 637 (same size as the 642) in a front pocket, and off to the store.

Congrats on your purchase. I personally feel that everyone should own a 442/642. Definately no buyers remorse there!

Congratulations on the new S&W. I love my 642. Front pocket carry in a Desantis Super Fly.

Congrats! Get some snap caps and practice squeezing away. Really smooths out the trigger.

I've had a 442 for about 2 years and they're great, especially for summer carry (mowing grass, around the yard, etc.). Practice a lot. I will warn you though...they're addictive. I now have 4 snubbies. Latest addition a Ruger SP101 2" bbl .357 Mag. The 442 is smaller and lighter and will be my summer pocket carry choice. Enjoy, and let us know when you get your next one (LOL).

Congrats. I have had the 642 for several months now. It's a great pocket gun. Not fun to shoot like my semi's but great for CC when you can't carry your bigger gun.

Congrats! Yes everyone needs a snubby. Great in a larger pocket or IWB.

You think you like it now? Do a LOT of dry firing and then you'll really like it.

P.S. Get a set of C.T. grips and you'll really really like it.
