I was updating my inventory list with my latest purchase and I noticed that in 2009 I bought 4 handguns and so far in 3 months of 2010 I've already bought 2.
I'm off to a good start this year, and I get the feeling I'm not done. I'm itching to buy a 1911 and a .380 with the wallet holster (the kind you can actually shoot without removing from the holster).
So how is everyone else's 2010 shaping up compared to last year?

I have the nightstand gun of the pastor that baptized me when I was 10. He died a couple of years ago at the age of 94 and my Dad had been helping take care of him. My Dad knows how much I like guns (since he has given me so many over the years) and the pastor's son asked Dad to do something with it. Dad gave him $50 for it and gave it to me. It's a H&R 922 9-shot revolver 3" bbl. I know, not much of a nightstand gun IMO, but it means a lot to me now and is a fun plinker. 3 so far in 2010 but it's going to be hard to beat last years total of 15.

I picked up four this year as well. I think I'm done until December unless something presents itself that I just can't pass up. Bad thing there is, that means that I can't visit the GS for a while cause something always seems to present itself.
From here on out I'll most likely slow down a bit and select only a couple of new ones a year instead of three or four; running outa room in the safe for all of um.

And with those 7 purchases how much have you spent on training to use those weapons?
Congratulations, you've had a busy (and sounds like fun) time. But my experience has been the more I buy, the less I shoot each one I have. Unless you have been buying the second and third versions of guns for you and your family to all have standard weapons (remember 1 is none, 2 is 1, etc.) are you able to get quality range time with them?
I've had the privilege to get some good training over the last 10 years and I've found those purchases far more valuable than the 8th or 29th gun in the inventory.

Personally, I spend about $300 a month putting lead down range. I rotate practicing with various weapons...I usually take 3 or 4 at a time to the range. I make notes on my targets at the range (which gun, distance, speed of fire, etc.) and I keep targets for comparisons. I approach handgun practice much like studying for an exam. 6 so far this year... 2009 was only 5 so this year is off to a fantastic start! I have another gun on layway and one ordered already too, not included in the 6. :)

Last year was a pretty good year for me. This year I've bought a 638 snub but I'll probably have to be happy with what I've got for now.
