Just brought an S&W 638-3 home.

Well, I've been looking at this gun for about two weeks and today they had it on sale $20.00 cheaper, So now its mine. I figured I should have at least one revolver and this stainless, airweight fit my needs. I owned and carried a nickel plated, steel frame, bodyguard for about 15 years and always regretted selling it off. Now I'll have to digout some of my old holsters.

Congrats! I've had mine for over a year now and love it. I mostly carry mine as a BUG.

Excellent. Yup, everybody needs a snubbie. I really like the airweights. Put it in a pocket holster, and you'll forget you're carrying it.

Great choice! Better than the Model 642 in my view and I've owned a Model 642 for 12 years.

I agree. I had a choice between the 442 airweight in stainless or black and the 638 in stainless or black. It was a difficult decision but I opted for the availability of cocking the hammer if needed. Plus, I carried the Bodyguard for years and really liked it.

That's my primary EDC. Ugly as the day is long but a wonderul gun. I put Crimson Trace on mine but ..... I probably should have kept the money in my pocket.

Nice choice!!!! I've got a 1962 Model 49 bodyguard (blued steel) and a new 442. The airweight 442 carries good, but I like the bodyguard better for some reason. I call it "The Camel" because of the hump. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Great choice (is there an echo in here?)!

The shrouded hammer is a tremendous feature... if the gun snags coming out of your pocket, it's because you put the gun in backwards!

How so? The reason I ask is that a friend recommended I buy the crimson trace grips but I'm sceptical that they'll help enough to off set the expense. Ugly? Maybe, but there's something unique about the way they look.
