Learn that weapon well and practice with it as often as possible. That way when you absolutely need to use it, you don't have a different trigger system than you might be used to. Not to say that someone can't shoot multiple different guns accurately, I just feel that someone's carry piece should more or less be standardized.
I think this is very good advice. There's a great deal to be said for adopting a platform and learning it well. You can remove a lot of variables from the equation.
