    Smile My new .45 ACP

Ladies and gentlemen please allow me to show the new toy that I recently have acquired, a 2010 DW CBOB .45 (apologies for the poor photo quality). The gun really looks and feels amazing; it is almost too pretty to carry. I wonder how long break-in period it will need, because it is very tight. It comes from factory with 3 dot tritium night sights; green front/yellow rear. What I am going to change are the grips. I will install some nice slim grips; it will make a big difference when CCing it. I am thinking about Sarge’s or Esmeralda’s if they have in stock something that I like. The other is the magazine; it comes with two check-mate mags, which I am not very familiar with. Do any of you have experience with these magazines?

I was gonna say 'congrats on the ashtray-flinger', but wow - that is so much more than that!

That is beautiful! I'm actually at a loss for words...

    Very nice.

I like the bobtailed grip, but I think they need to update it to a little more rounded. The sharp angle is starting to get dated.

Awesome!!!! I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 2010 CBOB too. You'll love it.

I've got just 250 rounds through mine. There is no specific mention of a break in period in the manual. I've experience a few hiccups with mine...likely mag related. I also have the 8 rounder Check Mate mags and every 4th-6th magazine it wont lock back. I called Dan Wesson, they were very helpful BTW, the guy I spoke with said that the magazines likely needed some slight "tuning". You may not have this issue but call them if your unfamiliar with tuning a 1911 mag....I was. They DID mention that the gun would need about 500-600 rounds to properly break it in...they also suggested just running ball ammo through it during this process. They do not recommend re-loads. I've read some threads on various forums discussing the Check Mate mags and followers and they seem to be liked overall.

The DW rep that I spoke with also said to use the oil it came with and to buy a heavier weight oil when you run out. They said that RemOil and Hoppe's are too light for the tight tolerances. He even said you could use a synthetic motor oil.

I'm sure you will be pleased with your new CBOB. NOW...you just need a good holster for it. I got a Pure Kustom Black Ops Pro and I'm just waiting on a new belt to show up so I can carry it. If you have any problems DW CS is great and they will fix anything you can't. Congrats!

CMI make good magazines, they are a supplier for a number of manufacturers.
