Looking for a new duty gun

Ok everyone, I'm looking into a new duty gun. It will be carried in a retention holster in a LEO capacity daily. I will have other items on my belt so weight, mag capacity, shootability, durability are all important. Ineed a accessory rail too.

Here's the ones I'm looking at tell me your opinion and why you carry it.

    Glock 17 ( I have a 19 and 21 and have had others too)
    M&P 9
    SR9
    PX4 9mm
    P226

Tell me what you think of these. I definately want a 9mm, I will have night sites, and a TLR-1 attached

Of the ones you have listed...G17, all the way.

Although a G34 would also be a good choice.

I love my SR-9, and like the thinner grip it has vs glocks m&p and xds. but i dont think you could go wrong with any of these. Shoot them all...... YouTube - Ruger SR9 pistol: Gunning for the Glock, Part 1
You may not like guns. You may choose not to own one. That is your right.
You might not believe in God. That is your choice.

While I like a Sig marginally better than a Glock in the asthetics department, there's no denying that a Glock is what others strive to be in the durability department.

    I like the SR9 as a 9mm carry arm.

Since you already have a G19, it would seem to make sense to get the G17. That way, you could carry the G19 as a back-up weapon and keep magazine compatibility.

It's not on your list, but have you considered the CZ75 P-01?

No to the CZ- just because I am ignorant to their specs and reliability

I have considered the 17alot for that very reason, also would like a 26.

Although I'm a big M&P fan, I'd say go with the Glock 17. It sounds like the right gun for you considering you already have the G19 and you're considering the G26.

I'd have to suggest the P226, it fits the bill to a T. While the Glock 17 is slightly lighter I personally don't think the marginal weight difference is enough to let it win out. The P226 has an external hammer, which if concealment isn't a factor will win out over a striker pistol every day (for me, I know many will disagree. It's deadly accurate, durable, and fits like a glove.

A Sig was the first semi-auto that really sold me on the action type. I used to be a staunch revolver fan, and while I still love them they're no longer as actively used by myself.

Sub question can anyone compare any of the other guns to the glock. Like a said I have had many different ones in diff calibers. I know I need to shoot them but this is prelim research, my rent and shoot range is a ways away and I've been pretty busy lately.

    Good info, keep rollin.

I agree, the P01 is a great gun, It rates higher than the Glock, no
    question about it.
But I think I will vote G17 because most police agencies here in the
states would allow to be carried by their officers.

    Glock 17, Glock 17, Glock 17...

Besides, you also have magazine interchangability with your G19...

Famous trainer Chuck Taylor has 140,000 rounds through his G17 with no major parts breakages.

Good to see an LEO going with 9mm. The newer generation defensive ammo brings the 9mm to a new level (CorBon DPX, Federal HST, Speer Gold Dot, etc.).
