My Ruger MKIII likes most Federal rounds. It also likes the cheap and somewhat dirty Remington Thunderbolts but not the more expensive Remington. CCI mini mags also work well.
You never have a problem re assembling as long as you never take it apart. Mine is 4 years old and all I use is a bore snake and Q-Tips to clean it.

I have 2 mark 2s that are 24 years old, after that first tear down a mark series pistol is not much of a challenge to tear down and reassemble, just remember a nylon mallet, the clearances are dang tight. While I have many hand guns and I reload so cost of ammo is not much of an issue, a good Ruger Mark II is dang hard to beat for an afternoon of fun; I do not have a MarkIII so can not comment on them, but figure they are as good of pistol. I think that you made the right decision, a second quality gun like the RIAs pistols is hardly ever satisfying, and a first quality like you got is almost always a joy and treasure.
OH yeah, spend the few dollars and get a thumb saver, it does not take long to make reloading magazines a real PITA.
