A Ransom rest is kind of like a vice for a gun; you see them on Mythbusters sometimes. They hold the gun in a fixed place so you can use a target to sight in a gun; you shoot the gun, see where the bullet went on the target and adjust the sights accordingly.

So I looked closer at the sight....I noticed a chip on the left post (is that the right term) and I rememberd I dropped it while I was in the bathroom at work a couple days ago.

Weeeellll, the good news. I get to pick up a new set of sights!!! I've had my eye on some straight eights

I've had Heinie sights on an HK before. I liked them, but wish there were white dots. For some reason my eyes always gravitate toward the dots quicker than trying to use irons, even though all the instructors told me to just use all sights as iron sights once you get lined up.
