My 3 main carry guns over the last 19 years have been a G22, G27 and G19, in that order. The 26/27 is easier to conceal, but not by much.

Glock 19 because it is your first handgun. Invest in a comfortable IWB holster like the Cross Breed Super Tuck or one of Comp-Tac's hybrids. Find a comfortable/concealable postition for that baby and don't look back!

I pocket carry the G27 (same size as the 26) and also carry on my belt. But both the 26 and 19 are fine choices.

You can make a G26 bigger if you need to with an extension, but you can't make a G19 smaller without a hacksaw. Both are accurate and reliable.

You can easily make the glock 26 mimic the glock 19 by using a magazine extentions. It makes the 26 the same size as the 19.

    I have both.
I agree that as an "all around" gun, the 19 is better.

But I carry the 26. Without extensions. Small differences can be important in concealed carry.

I own both so I am speaking from experience here. The G19 is the best bet as your first Glock. Both are outstanding handguns but the G19 is more versatile and a better first choice.......but by all means get the little Glock when you have the funds! Some may think its overkill or redundant because the size difference/concealability is not really that great but I just like Glocks and want one of all the ugly buggers.

I made the mistake of holding a G26 the other day. Amazed at how they can cram 10+1 9mm into such a small package. Might start drinking the cool-aid before long... Only thing I didn't like about it...I like having my pinky on the grip. I'm sure grip extensions are available for it though...now I really want to get my paws on a G36.

New to pistols and/or Glocks, I would recommend the G19. My first pistol was a Glock 19...loved it...and it was an excellent introduction. Alas, it was sold and I moved on to the Glock 26 for an actual carry piece.

As you become more seasoned/experienced with the Glock platform and, generally, carrying concealed...you will get a G26. It is Glock's jewel in the whole line-up IMHO.

I have both. The 19 is my CC for fall & winter. The 26 is my CC for spring & summer. If you had to pick "one" I'd get the 26. You can CC with the 26 all the time. Get the mag extension if you felt the need for extra rounds at the range. Try both of them on with a good Gun Belt and Holster. Who know maybe you'll find you can CC a 19 all the time. That wasn't the case for me. The 26 is just small enough and lighter enough to make a difference. To each is own.

    Good luck in your search.

Like a lot of people said, you can't make the big gun smaller. I carry my 26 on or in the waist with a sleeved 19 mag. When I drop it in a pocket I use the 10 round mag. At the range I use a sleeved G17 mag. It's like having 3 guns.
