    need help with decision pls

I just orderd and bought model 642 smith and wesson for my wife. Just realize that it was a 2 1/2 inch and not a 1 7/8 barrel version. Like I wanted
Should I keep. It or get the smaller barrel?

Why one and not the other?? Advantages of the 1 7/8 over the 2 1/2?

    I say keep it...

You'll figure it out once you get your hands on it. Is the 5/8s of an inch going to be that much difference?

I ordered. This gun wholesale through. A catalogue. I assumed that it was going to be the 17/8 model for my wife's purse.

I think you will find that it isn't that much of a difference to go through the trouble of getting rid of that one and getting the other

    Keep it

I think 2.5 inches is a good length for a purse carried revolver. The slight extra length in a purse doesn't make it more difficult to carry, and the extra sighting radius and barrel weight should make it easier to shoot.

Keep it, the extra length for shooting purposes is a asset.

I think the 2.5 version is supposed to give the ejector rod enough length for complete extraction.

I would keep the longer barrel length. It will be an asset in the long run as your wife practices and become more proficient with it. The additional sighting radius will be very helpful. If it is to be carried in a purse I suggest that you get a soft, inexpensive carry holster such as an Uncle Mike's. Will keep the gun in place and will prevent the "crud" that accumulates in pockets and purses from fouling up the gun. FWIW!

I would purchase the smaller one for her, and keep the 2.5 for me. Then you have a matched set for the pair of you!
