Magnum Force - My Latest Acquisition

I picked up a new shooter yesterday, and got a chance to put her to the test today. Behold! My Ruger SP101 in .357 Magnum!

I chose the 3" barrel version to keep as much of the .357 Magnum velocity as possible... The increased accuracy due to the longer sight radius is a nice bonus. I added the Hogue grips to help manage the recoil and I have to say that they performed better than expected.

This is my best target for the day at 15-yards, Not quite as good as one of my 1911's, but it will certainly do.

    I think I'll keep her.

Very nice choice. Ruger builds a great pistol. I have an old security six snubbie and a GP 100.

I like the weapon. Never owned an SP101, but have a couple of the older Security Sixes that have performed well, although I have never used them for concealed carry. They currently occupy places within my residence for accessing rapidly. Wheel guns are easy to make go in the dark. AND, a big plus for me is that my wife feels much more comfortable with revolvers.

I have a thing for Stainless Ruger Revolvers. They are awesome.

I have a 3 inch stainless Speed Six which is the bomb. And bomb proof.

I also have two SP-101 DAO snubbies. All three are great guns. None of them I'd ever part with.

I do think I'd like a 3 inch SP-101 one day because I love the 3 inch barrel and would like the thinness of a 5 shot cylinder.

I think the 3 inch barrel is just about the perfect length for concealability as well as taking advantage of the extra length for bullet performance.

You have a nice set up there my friend! Very nice!

If I remember correctly (corrections are more than welcome!) the .357 Magnum is THE premier "Manstopper".

To my knowledge, nothing has been able to dethrone it.

    Pretty gun, by the way...

I've been wanting a snub nose revolver for a long time, do any of you pocket carry them or are they in a holster? Seem's like with the 3" you'd need a pretty deep pocket to conceal.

Almost the perfect revolver. I have been thinking about that Ruger (just like yours) for a long time, and it might be a purchase this year.

Welcome to the joys of the SP101 in .357. I've had mine a couple of months and it is one of my absolute favorite carry pieces. I have the 2" bbl and I do pocket carry it a lot (mostly IWB). I wanted the 3" bbl when I got it, but the shop didn't have the .357 in 3" at the time (I was trading a rifle and had to go with what was in stock). It's been great, and the shorter bbl works out well for CC....but I think I would personally like the 3" better. May have to get one of those too.

Nice choice. I'm sure you'll love it. Nice shooting...I"m not that consistent with my snubs yet, but I'm working on it. What holster is that in your pic? I like the design. Can you post a pic of the holster and the gun in the holster and tell what brand and model it is? Thanks.

Very, very nice. I've thought of adding a 3" Ruger revolver, but just haven't gotten around to it. I'm jealous.
