I ended up buying the .357 and 30-30 for $500 for both...

I like those grips, too, any idea what kind they are?
I just may do that, I could probably learn a lot more about the weapon. I'm not sure what kind of grips they are. He had the custom made for his hands some years ago, they are wood. I'm thinking of putting on some rubber grips to help soften the blow....

$500 for $1000 worth of firearms??
    You owe him bigtime.
Last time I saw a deal like that, a friend of ours gave my brother his fathers M1 carbine when he passed away. It was bought in 1967 because of the '67 riots(Detroit),New never fired.
Our friend came from a family of the mindset,(Guns, those things are dangerous, they could just go off)
    Lucky for my brother.

I know I owe him...I told him I would help him move when he gets his new house....I'll even buy the pizza and beer!!!
So, I went to the range the next day to try her out. I show the guys behind the counter my model 581 and I just wanted to see what what its worth. Now I know I wouldn't get nearly what its worth, but they wouldn't even consider it for a purchase or trade??!! They said it would be hard to sell. Interesting....
