    Looking for a 1911 9mm

Looking to purchase a 1911 chambered in 9mm. I like the way the Kimber Pro Tactical II looks and the price isn't bad. I am selling my Glock and getting away from the plastic. Any thoughts would be helpful.

    Thanks

The Springfield EMP was built around the 9mm from the ground up so the grip is actually smaller and thinner. As opposed to many others which maintain the exact same dimensions but change the magazine and the chamber for a 9mm. You should check them out...a lot of people love them.

Having said that, I have a Kimber Tactical Ultra, and I love it.

Keep the Glocks. You'll regret selling them.

But Good choice in the Kimber!

Hey JP, What holster setup do you use? I use a CrossBreed and a High Noon Holsters SlideGuard and it hides the Glock well.

Diablo, Im waiting on the Gen. 4 G23 to come out and then Ill buy it. Which is why Im gonna keep my holsters for the Glock.

Looks like the EMP has a 3" barrel. Im leaning more towards a 4" if yall have any ideas as to who else makes one.

I highly suggest getting one of the 1911s specifically made to shoot the 1911.
The first is the Kimber Aegis II. You can get it in pro (4") or ultra (3"). I have the ultra (see avatar) and absolutely love it.
The 2nd is the Springfield EMP. Last time I checked they only made 3", but they might have a 4" now, not sure.

The newsletter that does not take advertising, Gun ******** recently ran an assesment of 9mm 1911s and the winner was the Kimber Aegis which beat out the STI and a SA Loaded. The Kimber, like the EMP was designed for 9mm. I would guess that the ramped barrel on the Kimber 9mm would make all the break in and JHP problems a non issue.

I love mine, but it's probably more than you want to spend, since it's from the Springer CUstom Shop...

I carry in a Tucker Texas Heritage...I freakin' love this holster. Basically no break in time needed...just conforms right to your body.
