Looks like a Sigma and M&P love child.

    Thank you for the pics!

Is this in addition to or replacing the M&P line?

According to the folks on the S&W forum it's in addition to the Sigma and M&P lines.

Is the M&P not a polymer pistol? Why the SD series?

Isn't it amazing how many other Firearms makers like the looks of a Glock?

Bigger and heavier than the M&P compact. SD40 is 14+1 and they do say it is available in 10+1 which I guess would be smaller.

That's what missing from all my other pistols--a textured finger locator. All these years my finger has been aimlessly waving around in the air, wondering where to go.

I don't see any reason to get rid of a M&P (or anything else) to get this. Other than a front night sight (How much help is that without a rear nightsight), what makes this model different from anything else? I don't see anything that wows me.

maybe..the SD is suppose to be more quality than the sigma, and less expensive than the M&p line? thats the only thing that would make sence...

and what the heck is the textured finger locator for? your trigger finger?

is there a price on these yet?EDIT, its 530.00, sigmas 458-490 and the M&P are719-830

    Letdown!

Man, for a second I thought they came up with competition for Kahr and Kel-tec in the single-stack market.

Oh well. Ruger has been on fire lately...maybe they have some in the works.

I don't see why S&W came up with this, when they already have the M&P and the Sigma.

Something about the lines remind me of the XD. I think it's the front cocking serrations. At any rate, it looks like it'll be in between the Sigma & M&P in the price and quality departments. My guess is that they're going against Taurus as they're also in the $450ish price range.

Oh...and the textured finger pad is for your thumb, when using a 'thumbs forward' grip.

    Apples and oranges -
The SD40 is slightly SMALLER and LIGHTER than the
