Question Request for guidance, G26 or CZ 2075 (RAMI)

    Hi folks,
New to this board, finally getting my permits for pistol sorted out and will be purchasing (hopefully) very soon.

This is not a direct CCW question but feel this forum may be the help I need.

Purchasing 2 weapons, CZ SP-01 in 9mm......drool, drool. This will be my primary and I will also be purchasing a compact for potential home usage.

Now my quandry, I have always liked the CZ range, reliable, nail driver accuracy, it does what it says on the box. I also like the Glock range well built ,reliable etc. Shot both, like both ranges, now I'm torn between the RAMI and the 26.

Does anyone have any personal experience of both weapons and any suggestions?

I know and appreciate the technicalities of both, DAO as opposed to DA/SA, "tupperware" as opposed to all metal etc.

Had a poke around Glock Talk and CZ Forum, the GT lot can come across as a bit rabid form time to time....8-) the CZ'ers much less so but still loooooove their CZ's.

Hoping for something a little more balanced?

I had a 26 and thought it was a great gun. Very accurate, strong, and plenty of holsters and accessories available for it. The availability of products for the Glock would be the deciding factor for me.

I'm with Ben -- we had two G26s. Great guns. Went bang every time, easy to shoot, durable (and I'm a dummy for selling them... oh, well).

The Glock is for the great unwashed masses who believe in what they see in the movies and on TV. The CZ is for those who appreciate the finer things in life, have taste and style, and who know more about guns that what some fictional US Marshall advocates.

The G26 is a great little carry gun............ I haven't any experience with the other one.. Guess I'm partial to Glocks.

George, your review of the RAMI in CCM is what made up my wife's mind to send me in search of one. Have you handled or shot the new polymer frame RAMI? She wants the 9mm with the polymer frame to save the 2 oz.

I have had a RAMI .40 since they first came out and it still shoots like a dream! Easily concealed and totally reliable. So is my Glock 23, don't have a 26. Partial to CZ's but really, you can't go wrong with either.

Look George, just cause I took my Saturday night bath tonight, and prefer Schlitz over PBR, that's a little brutal.....

Funny nonetheless , but jeez, it's not a fig newton with a trigger......

But, I do admit, ya calling as ya see 'em! Could I ask for more <music in background...rising in volume>

    Never shot a Glock...

but I bought a CZ RAMI a couple of years ago, just based on looks,
    design, and caliber. I wanted a sub-compact handgun of .40 S&W
caliber to carry concealed, and the RAMI seemed to fit the bill. I
had never shot a CZ handgun before either, but it was a learning
    experience.
On my first trip to the range, my new RAMI jammed just about every
other shot. I was not a happy shooter. It seemed the bullet nose
just decided to lock up half way up the feed ramp, and then stop.
When I got back home I got on the 'net and started looking for "problems with a RAMI" sites. I found a couple, got a few ideas,
    and went to work.
I polished the feed ramp with a dremel and a rouge wheel, I de-
burred the magazine lips with sandpaper and scotchbrite, I de-
burred the slide rails with sandpaper and scotchbrite, I polished
the barrel locking lug with a dremel tool and a polishing wheel.
I polished the slide lock pin with a dremel and a rouge wheel.
Lastly I "very gently, a little at a time", opened the lips on the
magazines that came with my RAMI. And then I lubed the heck
out of the slide and frame, and (with snap-caps), I must have dry-fired that gun 3000 times.

That RAMI will shoot anything I feed her now, but a little
"fine-tuning" just had to be done to get it there. I love the
idea that a handgun will fire perfectly "out of the box", but
it just really doesn't work that way, most of the time.

That's my experience with a RAMI. I do carry it concealed
most of the time now. Great gun.

never shot a Glock 26 but if the finger grooves are anything like my Glock 19, I know I wouldn't like it, hands too big. I like the Glocks, just need 2nd generation I guess. Never shot a Rami but I would like to, I carry a P-01 and it has been great so far, no complaints.

No experience with the Rami, but I own a 26, and love it. Accurate, fun to shoot. If you feel that the grip is too small, you can get a grip extension, or, as I do, buy the 12 round magazine, which automatically gives you an extension. I carry the Glcok in my right front pocket during the Vegas summer. Great little gun.

    Folks,

Thanks for the info to date, looks like my only real way forward is going to be how they feel in the hand.....I could get both of course but "she who must be obeyed" will probably have words to say..8-)

Just a little update, in the end I went for the new model RAMI in polymer and an SP-01.......Happy camper now.

I seem to feel that the RAMI in polymer gives a slightly better recoil absorption that the all steel, could be purely subjective.

    And I always said I wouldn't go "Tupperware"....8-)

I'll post up range reports when time/work/"she who must be obeyed" permits.

One thing I have noticed is the slide release is a bit of swine, easier to use the weak hand to release than the strong hand thumb. I'll see if it eases up after a couple of hundred rounds.....Dirty job but someone has to do it.

As for the SP-01.....ahhhhhh now I remember why I love CZ's
