    Help..My LCP slide locks open...

Hey guys, looking for alittle help here. Just got home from the range tonight and my slide on my LCP was creating all kinds of problems. The slide kept locking open almost every few rounds. I got home, took it apart and cleaning it when I found this...The underneath of the topside of the slide has 2 flatpoints that are "grabbing" the barrel and preventing it from sliding forward.
    I have attached pics...
You can see the slide locked open, with the slide lock not flipped up...
The other pic is the flat pieces of the slide grabbing the barrel...

Call Ruger? The gun is only 2 months old...

I'm gonna call them first thing in the morning...This is crazy, I thought it was the ammo at the range! I've been carrying this gun almost everyday since I got it. I'm glad I found the problem tonight at the range rather than when I needed it!!!

Mine did the same thing after firing about 300-400 rounds thru it. Sent it to Ruger and they replaced the slide and barrel. Have fired about 200 rounds and no problems since then.
Have read on other LCP forums that several people are having the same problem.

It took about 3 weeks for Ruger to fix mine. Have heard others suggest that maybe some of the slides had not been heat treated correctly.

It looks like the pin is loose, or coming out just enough to bind up the slide.

Well it sounds like its only a few weeks old so it would be under warranty, but I dont think the rugers have a lifetime warranty

I just checked mine and the second view photo of the barrel position is not good. By all means, post Ruger's findings.

Yikes. Is that a groove on the slide in the second picture? Whatever it is, it's not right. BTW, thanks for reminding me to clean mine - it was full of dust bunnies.

Well I talked to Ruger today. Great customer service I must say. From the lady who answered the phone to the supervisor I spoke with. They didn't tell me much at all. They basically said we want to inspect the gun and replace whatever needs to be replaced. I asked if this is a common problem with certain LCP models and they said "Not Really," whatever that means?? They are sending me postage paid via UPS and I need to ship it through one of UPS's hubs since its a firearm. They said they would inspect it, fix it and get it back to me ASAP. So, as the events unfold, I will update this thread.
I would like to add, although the customer service did great, and they will repair it at no cost to me, I just fell like I wasn't given enough info about that problem. I mean that gun has less than 200 rounds through it. This really seems like a flaw or defect in the gun. Maybe they are afraid of another recall? I did find on the internet and on this forum of similar damages yet they "Ruger" doesn't seem to know about this...maybe I rely on the internet too much for my info? Another recall for the LCP would be devasting to them. Well I'm glad they are going to fix it and like I said, I will keep you all posted on this post....

As I stated earlier I had the exact same problem with my LCP. I did not mention that b4 the slide started locking back I was having FTE,only a few at first but kept getting worse as time went on. FTE with WWB,Privi, Blazers and Speer Gold Dots. I cleaned and lubed but kept getting worse until I started having the slide lock back. Then I started searching different forums and it wasn't long b4 I found several people where having the same problem. "Excessive peening" was what it was commonly referred to. My LCP came back repaired after about 3 weeks, customer service was great but I also did not get any explanation. I own Ruger revolvers,semi-autos and rifles and have never had any trouble b4. I love the Rugers but will have to shoot many more rounds b4 I can trust the LCP 100%.
