The title says it all I was wondering if anyone here has one of these guns,if so have you used it for CCW?
I know these are quite rare and no longer made,but I'm the type that uses my guns. To that end I'm looking to track one of these down as I like the idea of a colt D-frame size .357 revolver. Thanks for any info guys.
I have a Magnum Carry, purchased new in '98. I've never really used it for CCW, more home defense and vehicle carry. I've recently gotten a Ruger LCR for CCW, and was considering letting the Magnum Carry go.
I do know what you are talking about and it has been years since I have seen one at a gun show. I would venture to say that any out there are in safes owned by Colt collectors and will not be coming out of them any time soon. Taurus has some small six shot .38 Special +P revolvers and perhaps one of those would do you for now until you can track down an owner willing to part with their Colt Magnum Carry.
If you are indeed a Colt Man, and I bet you are, take a look at a Detective Special and Buffalo Bores 158 Gr. +P LSWCHP. It's the old 38/44 ballistically.
It is a shame about the Colt Magnum Carry. It could well be the ultimate .357 Magnum snub revolver yet was discontinued about the time concealed carry interested really took off. Colt may have only manufactured the Magnum Carry for a year or so.
It could be argued that the Magnum Carry combines the best features of both the J-Frame Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum snubbies and the Ruger SP101, along with the advantages of a six-shot cylinder. It is said to weigh 21 oz. which is less than the SP 101.
It is one model that Colt should bring back. I'd like to have one.
