First, be sure you're not flinching in anticipation of the recoil.
The most common result of this widespread tendency is to shoot low and a little to the left (if you're right handed.)

My husband has the XD Sub- Compact, I love to shoot it. It hits right on target, no problem. I notice when I started shooting with it, in anticipation I would flinch. But once I got comfortable with shooting it, I had no problem hitting on target.
To answer your question, no the front sight is not adjustable.
I agree with the previous poster to rule out operator error before making adjustments to the gun. Have you tried dry firing? This can be a great way to work out the flinch.

My EDC is the SA XD40 SC, I had a problem when I first purchased it and members of this forum explained that I might try a different sight picture. I did and it's dead on now. I was taught to place the "bulls eye" directly on top of the front sight and then line up the sights so the bull sat on top of the front sight. I now place the front sight directly over the bull so that if you were to look right through the front sight you would see the bull and I now hit what I'm aiming at. I also bend my arms just a little from straight out and that also helps me to avoid arm wiggle. Good luck, it's a very nice weapon.![]()

XD40SC? The front sight absolutely IS adjustable for windage. All it takes ia a sturdy sight puller or a punch and small maul (I used a 3 pounder). To answer your question, no the front sight is not adjustable.
Thank you! You just fixed my problem.
My XD40sc is dead on using the above sight picture as well. It took me a little bit to get used to shooting a 40 as I was at first shooting low and left. I would expect it is anticipation of recoil not the sights. Shoot it from a bench rest before you manipulate the sights and you'll know. Practice will cure the flinches.

Guns are like sex and air...its no big deal until YOU can't get any.
Thanks everyone for the advice ill hit the range for some practice!
I personally would learn how to shoot properly then to drift your sights to compensate for anticipation of recoil.
The Ruger MKIII 22/45 is the worst handgun in history to take apart, but is one of the funnest to shoot...

this is my primary. after 4K it still shoots like a dream. at range time I turn the laser off.
it is dead on if done correctly. read your manual (sight picture) and stop flinching.

dont anticipate the recoil, dont tuck your chin to your chest while aiming. always keep your head up. this will also help keep your gun on target among other things.
