I changed the grip safety on my Colt Ghost.
This started as a Wilson Combat drop in beavertail grip safety for a Colt Gov.
I ground the tail off with a grinder then sanded it rough, then fine sanded and polished.
I wanted a grip safety with no tail.
If I gave a crap about what you think about my guns.....it was early this morning and I already flushed it!

I owned a Colt Delta Gold Cup years ago (I'm still kicking myself for selling it) and I got major hammer bite off it. It had a grip safety that looked just like this. I hope you are not going to have that problem.
If I knew what I know now I would have just gotten a beaver tail put on it and been very happy.
Bend the knees, smooth is fast, watch the front sight.

At discharge, recoil will work your grip up higher until the hammer comes in contact with your palm web. Unless you change out the hammer (or the grip safety), you're gonna get bitten.Originally Posted by jca1

I put 16 rounds through it today with no hammer bite.
My cousin put 15 rounds through it with....hammer bite.
Works for me but too little for some I guess.

Looks good, if this is a carry piece I wouldn't sweat it. At the range you can keep adjusting your grip to prevent the bite and in a self defense situation it will be a non issue.
As long as it works for you. That is what counts. If you are not getting hammer bite then you (obviously) don't need a tail.
