What is the opinion of the Redi Load grips for S&W J frames? Basically the bottom of the grips swings open and you store 4 rounds inside. Nothing extra to carry but almost a full reload if needed. I put up a link on an earlier post.

In the pics on the site, the grips look HUGE at the bottom, the very worst place for concealment.

At least a SpeedStrip. I think it's not the best idea to lack a reload.

As a dedicated revolver shooter, I practice the NY RELOAD; I always have at least a speed loader and two Bianchi strips also. I carry a steel J frame at 4 o'clock, and an Airweight™/Ultra-Lite™ J frame in my left front pocket. Speed loader in right front pocket; two Bianchi® Speed Strips™ banded together in my right rear pocket.

Two Comp III speed loaders, I prefer positive insertion.
Usually carried standing next to each other in my offside shirt pocket. The flap on the pocket keeps them from falling out and they are close to my hands during a reload.

Hmm, the Redi-Load grips don't seem huge to me, bigger than the itsy bitsy grips a lot of J frames came with yes, but not much larger than a good rubber grip would be. From the pics it looks about like taking the grips off and a pair of .38's on each side.

When I carried a J frame years ago, I always had a spare speed loader. A field strip may be a better choice for larger framed revolvers though.

I never carry any extra ammo, whether I'm carrying a 5 shot revolver or an 8 round .45.

    Ruger SP101 - 3 - 5 round speedloaders in a Tommy's small gunpack

    Ruger GP100 - 5 - 6 round speedloaders in a Tommy's large gunpack

No spare ammo is to put it nicely.......extremely optimistic

I carry Remington 125 grain magnum SJHP's in the pistols, Speed Gold Dot 125 grain magnums in the speedloaders.

The hard tip of the Gold Dots insert quicker and more positively from the speedloaders into the cylinder than the soft lead tips of the Remingtons.
