Never try to teach a pig to sing. It won't work, and will just annoy the pig.

I wouldn't bother unless your friend agrees to live in the real world and consider the points you make. Ask them to read some of John Lott's stuff, and THEN get together and chat.

    OH SO TRUE!! LOL

Numbers are convincing! Numbers can make the difference between having someone listen to you and believing you. For example:

You tell a friend "my neighborhood is kinda bad. There have been a lot of gun related deaths here."

    Or

You tell a friend "my neighborhood is kinda bad. 7 out of 10 houses in the area have had gun related deaths here."

Which one do you think will get the bigger reaction?!

The fact of the matter is numbers give us something to count. It gives what the person is saying a quantative figure for the listener to visualize. Whether good or bad.

Why do you suppose statistic's are wonderful things when you agree with them, but are worthless when you don't?

I think it was Mark Twain who said:
"There are lies, damn lies, and statistics"
The first rule of a gunfight: "Don't be there !"
The second rule: "Bring enough gun"

    AMEN!

Even if I get the occasional wierd look from family when I also carry in the house. It's wierd cause they also carry outside the home as well. But inside the house they have this "magical" protection time limit that they will have to get to their gun if something should happen. SMH
