    XDM 45/Glock 21SF

I've been looking at the Glock 21SF for a while and was almost ready to place an order for a OD w/night sights, but then I thought about the XDM 45 coming out. Anyone seen or handled one? Price? The local dealers around here don't even have a ship date yet. I do like my Glocks but I'm not a blind fanboy who can't evaluate other options.

I too an waiting for the XDM 45 to be released. I'm on the mailing list from Springfield to be notified of their release. I can't wait to see that the capacity on them will be. I am very wary of purchasing any new firearm without at east a years worth of reviews though because of recalls. It seems like almost every new gun put out by Ruger, Sig, Kahr, and all the other big manufacturers has a recall on it. It's almost as bad as microsoft software where the first adopters are really beta testing it and you should wait for the first service pack to upgrade. It's like the first recall is service pack 1...

I have handled one of the new XDm 45 pistols and with the medium back strap in place the grip was too large for my hand. It feels larger in its dimension than does the Glock 21 SF. By comparison, the FNP 45 grip with the smallest back strap fits my hand rather well. By the by, I wear a large glove size.

I have consistently been underwhelmed by the XDm series compared to the original XD series pistols. I own and enjoy shooting an XD 45 compact and it is a frequent carry gun. Certainly, the XDm series looks better but otherwise it doesn't make me want to pay the extra premium compared to the XD series.

I've been thinking about going from my current EDC 1911 Kimber stainless steel to a polymer frame .45 I hope to gain magazine capacity. I hope to lose some noticeble weight on my belt. This XDm looks interesting . . . ;but it sounds like I better see what the XD 45 feels like too.

Don't want to sound like a broken record here, but M&P .45 Pro is the sweetness....

    From the brochure:

    (M)EGA CAPACITY MEGAZINE™ – The new XD(M)™ 45ACP magazine holds an
incredible 13 rounds and is completely interchangeable with the original XD® 45ACP
    magazines.
The major difference is the much smaller size of the XD(M)™ 45ACP’s
frame. The XD(M)™ is the largest capacity production polymer pistol in both the .40
    caliber and 9mm, accommodating 16 + 1 and 19 + 1 rounds, respectively.
