Y'all, I am coveting a 1911 something bad! I see all these on this forum and it just hurts because now I've gotta buy one. Not that my Sig 220 isn't amazing but it just isn't a 1911.
With that being said I have been eyeballing the Kimber Crimson Pro Carry. I have read a lot about them having problems with the QC process. Most post that I have read about that are a couple years old. Are there some lingering issues that I should consider before a lay down a grand or more for a 1911?

I've carried a Kimber Pro Raptor everyday for over 2 years with well over 1000 rounds thru it without any problems at all. Would I buy another Kimber? You bet.

My suggestion if looking at Kimber is once you buy it to go ahead and call Kimber and have them send you a new slide stop, that and have a smith polish the feed ramp. Or you could just look at a DW CBOB or VBOB.

EDC is a Pro Carry 2, 1000+ rds through it only trouble with it was my fault, not enough oil on the slide and rails (tried to run it like a Glock) wouldn't go completely into battery
I've had three Kimbers, all CDP's...I still have two of them...no problems with any of them.

I still have an excellent Kimber Eclipse 4" barrel, and it is a jewel. Six years later and lot's of rounds down range.

Seems like now people are catching a 1911 bug. I'm glad that I already have one
That said, if'n ya got a grand or better to spend... it's gotta be a Dan Wesson.
But, that's just me

I had a Kimber Pro-Carry in .38 Super that worked fine except with PMC ammo.
I upgraded to a Pro-Carry in .45 ACP and haven't had a single issue...I've never tried PMC ammo in it however. Since you like SIG, they also make a 1911.

Well, if you do decide to avoid the Kimber in the end, the Springfield line is most excellent. I love my GI model and it hasn't failed me yet...

I have looked at the Springfield line and I must admit, they are nothing but NICE! I haven't ever held one but they do have my eye. Any recommendations for CCW?

I like the Loaded, Operator & TRP, but that's just me.
Don't let a full-size 1911 intimidate you. Get a good holster and it will become your daily companion.
