    New FNP-9

I have been wanting a FNP-9 for quite a while now. I originally wanted the FNP-357 and ordered one about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately FN had ceased production of the .357Sig version of the FNP and I could not find one at the time. I got a super deal on a Steyr M357 instead and put the FN on the back burner for a while. For the past 8 months or so I have been casually looking for the FNP-9 at a really good price.

Last Saturday I went to a gun show in Bessemer, AL and the first thing I saw at a friend's table was a brand new Dark Earth version FNP-9 with a very good price on it. We did a little negotiating and I walked out with the pistol for less than $400 total. It appears that FN has discontinued the Dark Earth color for their handguns and is clearing them out. My friend bought four from his distributor and only had the one left. He had tried to reorder earlier in the week and the distributor had already sold out. If you are interested in any of the FN handguns and like the Dark Earth color you may be able to find a real good price on one until they are all sold.

I haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet, but should this weekend. I am not a big fan of polymer framed guns, but don't mind too bad if it has a hammer. I really like the feel of the FN and expect to like the way it shoots as well. I'll post more as soon as I get to shoot it. Below are a couple of photos.

Several nice features: interchangeable backstraps, three 16 round stainless mags, slide is stainless steel with a matte black industrial tool finish.

I think these FNP's are great. I have an FNP-40 and wouldn't part with it. I think you did very well.

Looks nice. Is it DA/SA? Can you run it cocked and locked, 1911 style?

Very nice. I've had a FNP9 and FNP9M(compact version) for several years. Thousands of rds thru both and never a jam. Hope you like it!

Another of the great things about the pistol is the safety/decocker. Push down it decocks. Push up it acts as a safety. The pistol can be carried cocked and locked or decocked with the safety on. You can also cock it with the safety on if it was in the decocked/safety on configuration. I personally like the decocked safety off condition that was shown it the original photos. My EDC is a CZ 75BD that is carried decocked.

That's the way I carry mine too. Safe, but very ready to fire.

Congrats on the new firearm. You're going to really like it. Their reputation is very good, and my understanding is so is their service should you need it.

I just returned from the range with a friend who was shooting his brand new FN9 for the first time. We put 235 rounds through the gun without a single malfunction of any kind.
