    Very interesting.

I like having a hammer. But the bore axis appears to be even lower than the FNX. Really would make more difference in the 45 than the 9, but I guess it will all trickle up. I know they sell more 9s.

    Is it SAO or SA/DA?

I believe it's pre-set DAO. Like Glock. Could be SAO like an XD though.

The thumb safety may indicate SAO.

Ive been thinking about the fnp45 for HD. I really want a SA/DA. I bet this is a striker fired, but has a safety anyway since so many people think they need them. It will be the only striker fired pistol with a safety other the stuff that Taurus makes. I do like the M&P like small slide and low bore center-line. Even the trigger looks like the pivot type on the M&P and Sigmas. The safety looks to small to me.

Am I the only one who sees some remarkable similarities with the M&P 45?

I realize of course that most polymer framed handguns look like cousins, but these two...

    Interesting

xd's and glock are both striker fired.

pulling the trigger on a glock both cocks the striker and releases it, where as pulling the trigger on an XD simply releases the striker.

A quick google search turned up this short article.

    11 June 2010
Belgium-based FN Herstal has recently announced the launch of its newly designed 9mm FNS™-9 pistol on the market.

The FNS-9 pistol has been developed around a pre-loaded striker mechanism, which provides a short and light trigger pull identical to all shots for fast and accurate shooting. Additionally, the polymer frame is designed with a low bore axis for reduced felt recoil and enhanced control.

Each FNS-9 pistol features an optional manual safety, trigger safety, firing pin safety and a drop safety, ensuring maximized security.

Additionally, the pistol comes standard with a number of ergonomic features: ultra no-slip checkered grips for an improved grip, front serrations for press check and two interchangeable backstrap inserts for a customised fit. All operating controls are fully ambidextrous.
