    Kahr PM9 over G26

I carry a G19 daily in my Brommeland Max Con. Have found that some summer attire, i.e., a tank top/ shorts arent suitable with this set up. When I bought my 19, I also bought a 26 thinking it could be summer carry. But looking back now, other than a shorter grip and barrel, its the same and why carry my 26 over my 19, if Im carrying in the same spot (just my opinion, I know a lot of people carry a 26)? I was hoping that the 26 would give me more carry options other than ankle(not wearing pants in the summer lol). So I bought a Kahr PM9. My brother is getting a heck of deal on a 26 that has only had 50 rds fired through it and never carried. I was hoping to get some feed back from everyone who has both the G26 and PM9. Im hoping to carry the PM9 in the pocket. Unfortunately, I was unable to actually hold one as I couldnt find one local. I will DROS it tomorrow evening. Just looking for all your thoughts. THanks!

I have a few friends with both. The G26 as you know is bulkier, but more capacity. The PM9 is great, slim, less capacity. Probably just keep both!

I owned the Glock 27 and carried it for years and years before selling it to my friend. The PM9 is much lighter and much slimmer, which makes carrying it IWB much more comfortable for me. IMO, the PM9 is a little too big for pocket carry and doesn't fit well in the jeans I have. I usually pocket carry a Kahr P380.

I don't think the PM9 is to big for pocket carry.I have a Colt Pocket Nine and it works in the pocket just fine. The PM9 and Pocket Nine are about the same size. Here is a pick of a Glock 26 and a Pocket Nine Side by Side.

I like the look of that Pocket Nine. Do they still make that?

No, Colt no longer makes the Pocket Nine. They were only made for 9 months in 1999.

Thanks for the responses! That what I read, some say its too big and some say its not. Well see LOL. Id like to keep both, but the wife already asked "How much that thing cost?" and I immediately replied "my brother is buying my 26." and left it at that. LOL

Too bad. It reminds me of the SW CS 9.

I don't own either but have shot both and for your carry option as you said I would take the Kahr over the Glock 26...

For size and weight I would take the Kahr.. for capacity the Glock.. for comfort the Kahr.. in the end my choice would be the Kahr.

Accuracy ALWAYS WINS! So carry what you can hit with.

If you find yourself in a fair fight your tactics stink.

Thanks, yeah, my whole point is, I see the size difference between my 19 and 26 minor in that I would carry my 19 over the 26 anyday. I want a gun where the size is truely noticeable. Cant wait to get the PM9 thanks all!

They're kind of expensive but they're supposed to be great. Although I hear they have a break-in period of a few hundred rounds, unlike the Glocks.

I had a PM9, and currently have the Glock 26.

Most people, myself included, would consider the Glock 26 to be too big for pocket carry. I do pocket carry it, but only because I'm carrying guns for two people, myself and my spouse.

If she carried her own dang gun I'd go back to packing a J-Frame in my pocket. She likes the Glock 19, and has one. I also have a Glock 19 and knowing that she wasn't likely to be armed when we are together decided to get a Glock 26 to compliment her's and my Glock 19's.

The PM9 is a decent pocket gun, for an autoloading pistol, but I still prefer a J-Frame in that role due to the reliability factor. If the question was about service size autoloaders I wouldn't even give much thought to the reliability issue, but the same cannot be said, IMHO, about their smaller cousins.

The baby Glock has been reliable, like a J-Frame, but has greater capacity and magazine interchangeability with it's larger cousins, but it carries like a brick in my pocket. "She Who Must Be Obeyed" and I can share magazines and I'm carrying a platform she is comfortable with using. For our situation right now, that's a factor that I need to keep in mind. As she starts carrying more, and gets more training, I will go back to my preferred platforms and she can do as she pleases.

If I was going to carry only one gun, I'd pack something bigger than a PM9 and look for a better location to keep it. I'm a huge fan of Pocket Carry, for a second or third gun, but not as a primary, unless I was going to carry a gun in each pocket.

I'd keep the Glock it's a more reliable pistol.....why spend more to get less?

Kahr's are perfectly reliable after the break in period i've heard and you aren't "getting less" because a Kahr fills a different role... it can easily fit into the average male pants pocket.
