    With a good belt,holster, AND suspenders. :-)
I do carry in this rig, full size 1991-A1. Holster is a tucker, not sure which one right off hand, doesn't matter, so long as you use a good quality holster, avoid the cheap nylon ones.
A 1911 is Not an obsession, it's simply a recognition that it's THE Gun. :-) All others are runner ups. And hey, if all else fails, aim for the nose and fling it to knock out your foe. Let's see y'all do that with a kel-Tec. ;-)

Milt Sparks VersaMax II. Unfortunately, I tend to have narrow belt loops with my dress pants and as a result have to wear a narrower belt. The weight of a Government model tends to drag, even when I use a seven round magazine. When I can afford it, I am thinking of moving to a lightweight frame for a Government model.

I alternate carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II or a full size Custom Wilson Combat in a Milt Sparks VMII for both of them. The most comfortable holster I have ever owned. I now own 4 of them depending on my clothing choice or whether its work or play.

I daily carry a Para USA GI Expert 5" 1911 in a Super Tuck or a DM Bullard Bodyguard (OWB - and you carry it behind the hip - not SOB but close) with a Bluegrass Holsters Belt (I ordered my belt with a Ghost IWB for my XD .40 Sub Compact - a great gun and a great holster, but my GI Expert 1911 is even more comfortable to carry concealed due to its slimmer profile).
I carry the 1911 in dress clothes, shorts, whatever - no problem. I'm 5'9" and 190 lbs so I'm not huge in any way (though not bony either).
    Good luck with your choice!
BTW - I really want a Black Ops Pro for my 1911, too.

I have CC'd full sized pistols but I found that I would sometimes not carry if I was "not expecting trouble" which is a pretty assinine way to think. I now carry either a scandium J-Frame or an LCP as EDC. I will still carry a full size if trouble is more probable, I own some rental properties and that is it's own world, but I understand that one never knows when the Devil may show up.

I carried a full size 1911 for many years in a Milt Sparks Versa Max II and a Kramer belt scabbard.I am now a wimp and I carry small/light guns. But if you want to carry a 1911 OWB I would go with the Kramer.

Yes. Several holsters are used, Milt Sparks Watch-6, an old Bianchi "Askins Avenger" and an old Galco 3000, primarily.

I carry a full sized SA 1911 quite often. The only IWB that I have for this gun is a Durham Concealed Technology "comfort carry". It is very similar to the super tuck that I use for the XD SC, but has far better retention and costs a lot less.

I carry my Springer Loaded mainly in a Blackhawk Serpia holster and a couple spare mags in a 5.11 mag pouch can conceal pretty well under a Tshirt. Since the PD killed a mountain lion in town around my bike route I take daily I don't really want anything smaller than a .45

I carry a 1911 Dan Wesson Valor inside a Phoenix Stronhold Occidental Leather IWB holster. I just got the holster last week and have had many IWB holsters. This is the most comfortable IWB holster I have owned yet...

My current EDC is my Colt snubby. I purchased a SA Loaded last year. I recently ran into some extra pocket money so I sprung for a Beltman belt and Tucker Silent Thunder Slim to make my 1911 a carry option.

Belt should be here next week, and holster should be here in about 2-3 weeks. I'll let you know how it works out.

I have a Para P-14. Is the slide the same size as a Colt Government? I ask because I was thinking of getting a holster for it. I am also wondering how practical or impractical it can be to carry something like this.

    that p-14 is a BIG 1911. government slide/barrel, on a hi-cap frame.

1911's are my favorite pistols, but there's no way i would carry a full 1911 around all day--that's just too much steel for me to lug around. some do, though, guess it depends on your comfort level and your body size.

Any holster made for a 1911 will hold your P-14. The slides are identical, the grip area on the frames are different. As a matter of fact all parts are interchangable except the trigger and mag release and of course the magazine.
