I'd go with Crimson trace. The actual grip of a 1911 is not altered except for the small activation pad and the laser itself on the side. I like the GI guide rod system better than FLGR and the activation lever makes it require custom holsters.

There are planty of stories of Lasermax guiderods failing and disabling the weapon. Crismson trace fails just go to your iron sights.

I don't own either so I am not going to vote however I will say this... I would avoid changing the internals of a gun whenever possible.

I shoot left handed and found that I do not have to alter my grip.

You could just cut yours off and file the edges down.

I had the Crimson Trace on a Colt New Agent. Worked great. I think they will work fine for a lefty once the necessary modification is made to the safety lever.

Lasermax= too many moving parts ( switch, guide rod, etc) to replace on the gun Bateries are expensive too
trimson Trace- only the grips are replaced and they cam be taken off in a heartbeat. Batteries can be found at walmart, walgreens cvs etc. PLUS the laser can be sighted in ( tiny allen screws on the grip) to your personal needs.
