Kahr K 40 crimping shells on eject

    Hey guys,

I'm a novice with firearms and I have a question. I just took out a K40 that I purchased months ago from a really nice guy who sold me a spotless gun.

I fired about 30 rds. of brand new Winchester White box ammo through it and when I was collecting the brass, I noticed that one side of almost every single shell is crimped and looks like the letter D with some scratches. Also, in rolling around the shell through my fingers, I could feel some nicks arond the base rim also.

I called the guy and he said he never had a problem with it but never collected shells, so I guess it could have been that way.

I will call Kahr on Monday, but am now of course curious and it's Friday night and I'm sure TS is closed.

    Anyone?

    Thanks

I have seen this crimping "D" shape with other guns. I believe the empty case is hitting the slide on the way out.

The D shape is from the brass hitting the ejection port. That's how Kahrs are designed, here's a link to the owners manual, the explanation for bent cases is on page 16.

The nicks are from the extractor grabbing on to the rim and are also normal.
    Hope this helps.
