I'm a 1911 fan, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of your choices!

I carry a G29SF as EDC so I am saying G30 as it is the same size.

You can use the factory 10 round mags or use the G21 13 round mags in it for extra capacity. That coupled with the reliability and simplicity of the Glock is a win win. I carried a 1911 for 15 years.

There are some great .45 handguns on the market, but in my mind .45 ACP is a synonym for 1911.

I'm not gonna praise the 1911 as I'm just to new to the platform, but for SD the .45 is hard to beat no matter what platform launches it. If I was to try to suggest a 1911 style pistol all I can say is, I just picked up a Kimber Ultra C2 and it's a blast to shoot and spot on with accuracy. The higher end ones have got to be a dream to own and shoot. My vote goes to the 1911 and the Kimber for the price. YMMV

    Good luck

While I wouldn't mind owning any of those guns, I prefer capacity while carrying.

I love 1911's but my EDC can't have external safeties.

I carried aWWII GI issused model for years, many years. I quit carrying it because I would hate for anything to ever happen to it now. I most always am carrying a 1911 of some form or other every day. Most are are not "high-end", and for some reason you know I never felt under gunned.

I voted for high end 1911. Although, I don't consider Kimbers to be high end. 2010 DWs are moderatley high end now. I consider true high end 1911s to be from Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, Les Baer and Ed Brown. They are the best known, although there are even higher end full custom 1911s.

Although I don't have a 1911 and carry a SA XD40 SC, I would like to have a high end 1911. I can't really afford one now, so I'll have to stay with what I've got!

    There's a difference between high-end quality and high-end expensive :)

Ultimately it depends on what you like to shoot versus what you can afford. I've been just as accurate (or just as inaccurate, take your pick) with a sub-$500 Springfield GI model as I've been with a Dan Wesson custom package a pal of mine bought for the price of a small car.

I like to also think of the question few of us have in mind - "Which firearm will you be less sad about giving up as evidence in the event of a run-in that requires the use of deadly force?"

1911, but High end I don't include Kimber at all.
