I am looking for a concealed carry piece that I can pocket carry. I have looked at revolvers and semi-autos. On the revolver side I like the Taurus model 85. I am less sure about the semi-auto options. My needs are:
Small enough for pocket carry
9 mm minimum
$325 max. street price
Single stack magazine preferred
Which semi do you suggest?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
I don't have much advice for a pocket carry 9, as there aren't many on the market that appeal to me. I do have a taurus model 85, and I can say mine's been great bang for the buck! When I do carry it though it's usually IWB rather than pocket.
"Pocket carry" still leaves a lot of room for discussion. Technically, the GLock 26 can be pocketed, but mainly in Cargo pants. BIG pockets. Price is a bit higher and it is double-stacked, so maybe not a good choice.
The Taurus PT709 fits your criteria, but may be a bit on the large side as well for true front or rear pocket carry.
I think KelTec and Kahr make versions that are small enough to fit in most pockets, in 9mm, and should be priced where you are looking.
FWIW: Had a S&W 442, and it was PERFECT for front pocket carry. Granted you are capped at 5 rounds, but it concealed as well as anything else you could find, including Kahr and Kel-Tec, and it is virtually guaranteed to function 100%. You might on the right path with the Taurus wheelie! Just get a good pocket holster, and a few speed strips for reloads, and you are about as well-armed as anyone could want to be.
Sounds like a job for the Kel-tec PF-9.

PF9 meets all your criteria.
Mine works great and carry it often.

If it has to be a 9mm, then the KelTec would work well.
