VZ Gatorbacks 1911 slim grips (Pics)

So I've been thinking for a while about ditching the magwell on my
Tactical Ultra II and changing to slim grips to enhance concealability.

But recently I've been considering giving appendix carry a shot, and I've found that dimensions become an even greater issue with this mode of carry.

So this prompted me to go ahead and make the above changes. Thought you folks might like to see some B and A's...

That kinda makes me want to carry a 1911...

Nice. I really like VZ grips. I have the same ones as you, but black.

    Very, very nice.

Slim grips make a World of difference for carry, don't they?

I like the narrow profile and it is why I prefer the 1911, it fits me well. If I want a wider grip I'll just get a double hicap something!

    Nice touch to your Kimber!

I have the standard size Gatorbacks and the slim Diamondbacks. I love the Gatorbacks, but the Diamondbacks are way too tacky... I've never tried the slim Gatorbacks, but they look great. I have a tan set coming with my PDP Commander.
Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~Paul Howe

    Looks very nice.

I'm assuming that you have to replace the grip screw bushings...? What all is involved in that?

Yeah, I'd say it makes a difference. Enough to make me want to do it to my Ultra. Very cool looking, and useful.

Yeah, you have to replace them. It was no problem at all. Just use a flat tip screwdriver to remove the old ones and thread in the new ones.

I was relieved, because some guys have talked about loc-tite being applied at the factory and having to use a soldering gun to heat them up to remove them.
