Just for grins: Pick (3) weapons for the end of the world...
I really enjoyed the movie I Am Legend with Will Smith, especially with his choice of weapons to battle the diseased zombies. The tricked-out AR was always with him. Naturally I was thinking what if...
Which weapons would I put on my person or in my Jeep if I were in that situation? Survival 101. Gotta hunt to have a food source. Gotta protect yourself from other people who want what you've got, gotta protect yourself from various animals, diseased zombies, vampires, Democrats... whatever.
What would be the 3 must-have pistols and or rifles that you would make sure were at your side? We can all assume you could get an ammo source, as well as assume that price is no object... just go to the deserted local gun store and take what you want...but only 3!
My list: I already have them.
1. AR-15 with halo sights and spare magazines: hunting and self defense
2. Glock 19 : self defense
3. Enfield 2A in 308 with 3x9 scope and plent of spare clips, composite stock for hunting and sniping.
What's on yours?

Crap!
I can't believe i forgot the 12-guage! you gotta have a shotgun...I might swap out my Enfield for the Remington Wingmaster in 12-guage... much better choice! Plus I'd have the AR for sniping and hunting...

My Noveske AR SPR
Glock 19
Remington 870
Not all that creative, but I know them inside and out, and I can cover anything from bad-breath (do zombies breathe?) to 600 yards with that trio quite comfortably.
Plus the parts, accessories, and ammunition for these are ubiquitous, and they are all generally easy to maintain and repair.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

I gotta have my regular three-piece set - 870, AR, and 1911.
My AK with 100-rd drum full of softpoints would be a good anti-zombie weapon, though...
That reminds me - I need to take and post some more pics!

Well I think at the end of the world you have to go with a long gun for EDC. I'd choose the HK G36 w/ rail. The Glock 30 would be my BUG. In all honesty, I'd be a nomad, and the weight of a 3rd gun traveling with me at all times wouldn't be worth it.
However, if I were in a firefight, I'd be pretty happy with either of these:
AA12 Shotgun
KRISS Vector SMG™ .45 ACP

1. 1911
2. USAS-12 Autoshotgun
3. M107 .50 Barrett OR .408 Chey Tac w/ ballistics calculator if ammo was plentiful
Alternate: 2x Machetes, blades don't need reloading.

I have to ask why on this one. As a sniper platoon leader, I had control of three of these. Even in combat, they were of very limited, specialized use. Nevermind that they weigh almost 30lbs, empty... For that you could have an M240B w/ a 100 rnd belt...

My zombie plan requires me to stay occupied and maintain a level of comfort. What says comfort and fun more than plinking at Z's a mile or more away?
