    Now I did it!

Well, after drooling and wanting for awhile now, I finally save up enough to afford a new to me SA LW Champ Operator. WOO HOO! I can't believe how gorgeous it is in person, and just how smooth it shoots! Now for the one and only porn shot I have!

Gotta ask, as a relative novice to the 1911's:

what's the purpose of the holes in the trigger? Looks like ventilated disc brakes...

secondly: what's the logo on the grips? they look pretty fancy, but add a nice touch to the blued steel.

Last: are any of the 1911's alloy framed, to reduce the carry weight? I've sort of lusted after the old Star PD that was light weight, but have heard mixed reviews of the life expectancy of the alloy frames when paired with the .45 caliber projectiles...not a good match?

    Nice pistol congrats.

I know the feeling. I just started carrying the 1911 too. Very cool pistols.

Thanks guys! I ran a few rounds down range the other night when I brought it home. It was putting everything in a hole roughly the size of a quarter at 7yds.

The symbol on the grips is the signature SA cross cannons. Holes in the trigger are merely cosmetic with a minute weight savings. This is the LW model, which is an aluminum frame. It is very light for a commander size pistol. It weights less than my officers sized Citadel. Not sure exactly how much, but it's noticeable. As to life limits of alloy frames, if you wish to run nothing but +p thru it, then yes, you will substantially reduce it's life span. But standard pressure ammo shouldn't affect it anymore than a steel gun.

BTW, I have run +p thru it, and the felt recoil was again noticeably less than the compact Citadel.

I'm impressed so far with the overall design, form, fit, and function of this gun!

Glock27/ KaBar TDI/ MTAC Holster. I have more also, but this combination works well..

Congrats, nice pistol! I'm not much for rails on a 1911 of any kind but Springfield did a decent job because that doesn't look half bad. Nice pic, Don.
