I Duracoat my own guns. Its relatively easy to do with an air compressor and air brush. The guns I have done look every bit as good as the finishes applied by so called "professionals" if I do say so myself. Its all in the prep work. I can do my own guns for 1/3 of the cost of having it done. I also have found that the Duracoat finish holds up very well to sweat, scratches and general abuse. The actual application of the finish would take about 5 min. to do a KT slide. Spray the slide and drop it in the oven to heat cure for an hour and done. The prep and cleanup an hour. its very easy to do after you learn the ins and outs.

Example of some of my guns I refinished for those who may not be familar with Duracoat finishes.

I'm mailing my PF9 to Goldenloki this week. I've seen his great work on KTOG.org and his own website. He only charges $30 for the slide. After you buy all the supplies needed it's impossible to beat that price.
    Carry on my friend~~

Do it yourself. If you take your time and pay attention to the details it's pretty easy. Before and after of the one I did, and if I can do it than anyone can

doing it yourself is what i suggest, if that fails people send it to me and i give em' what they want...

it isn't difficult to do, a little time consuming, maybe....but prepping the metal is a must.

Have no fear dealing with Don. He's as straight as they come. Look in his gallery and my MK II Ruger Target .22 is in there.

I just finished DuraCoating 2 CZ-82s, and it was more work than I expected. I had no previous experience airbrushing, etc. Cannot understate "Prep." Had to "redo" the slide when coating peeled off the first time.

IF you have an airbrush and are good with it, and IF you have a compressor (the air cans are a waste of effort and $), you can give it a try. I don't know what the guy charges, but it may be worth it if you don't have the equipment (airbrush, compressor, cleaners, space to work, etc.) and time to deal with it. If you're afraid that it will end up "looking like you did it," then maybe a professional job is what you want. He's got the tools and experience to do it right.
