    For a 9mm carry what's better SR9 or

What else is worth check'n-out? I'm consider'n a 9mm for carry * I like the specs on Ruger's SR9 * The barrel is 3.5", wt 23.4oz, 6.85 length, 10 + 1 rds, 1.27 grip width * My think'n is it's like baby bear, big enough but not to big, so it "should" be a good shooter/accurate and stable * Seems like a better choice over Taurus's 709 Slim as this is a lighter piece * Ofcoarse I'll handle 'em & hopefully shoot off some rds before make'n the final choice * A 9mm piece under $5oo would be the deal..............???Thoughts.........thnx

Personally I've been eying the M&P compact lately. With the current rebate, it's in your ballpark of pricing and might be worth looking at.

If I could only ever have one 9mm handgun for the rest of my life, it would be a Glock 19. Heck, if I could only have one handgun, period, it would be the G19.

You should be able to get one for around $500, and it will do anything either of your mentioned options will do, better.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

Glock, Sig P250, M&P, SR9, XD. All worth a look. In that order, IMHO.

IMO, if you are considering a SR9 (that size) then the Glock 19 is a much better option. You can get a G19 + shipment + FFL fee for about $500. Otherwise I should look at the G26 like other people say, but it is a smaller gun. I should not even consider getting a Taurus.

    Ruger SR9
    Length: 7.55"
    Height: 5.52"
    Width: 1.27"
    Barrel Length: 4.14"

    Glock 19
    LENGTH 174 mm / 6.85 in.
    HEIGHT 127 mm / 5.00 in
    WIDTH 30 mm / 1.18 in.
    BARREL LENGTH 102 mm / 4.02 in.

    Glock 26

    LENGTH 160 mm / 6.29 in.
    HEIGHT 106 mm / 4.17 in.
    WIDTH 30 mm / 1.18 in.
    BARREL LENGTH 88 mm / 3.46 in

I decided on the Walther PPS 9mm.

A couple of my friends have the SR9C, and they like them. I've never shot one, but have examined one specimen, and it looked and felt good in my hand. Forget the Taurus. I'm more inclined, however, to join in the Glock 19/26 chorus, or steer one toward the Smith M&P Compact.

    Glock 19 or 26....
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
