    New S&W pistol

Has anyone seen this yet? I was at my LGS and they had a cross between a Sigma and an M&P. I think it was called the S&W Defender. It looked well made but the trigger was more like the Sigma than the M&P. It was priced halfway between a Sigma and an M&P as well at $420. Anyone else see one of these yet?

Hmmm, not bad, but doesn't it cost significantly more than the Sigma?

It's their "Home Defense" model. I'd say just spring for the M&P if you are considering picking one up.

Interesting, but I'm not sure who their market is. Basic protection: Sigma
    Duty capable: M&P.

    This?

Probably people who want to avoid the Sigma because they are "crap". <-Please recognize the sarcasm. I love my sigma for what it is.

Would that be the "Signa stigma"?

Battle Plan (n) - a list of things that aren't going to happen if you are attacked.
Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.

Sigma VE sells for $299 on sale. Buy the M&P, it is worth the extra $$$$$.

"Worth it" depends on mission and budget. I'm training a young lady to use her Sigma and find it to be a very adequate budget gun for someone like her.

She'll shoot just enough to keep up her skills, does not give a rip about the latest and greatest, and wants a simple forearm that will go BANG reliably. For her, the M&P makes no sense. The Sigma is perfect.

If the sigma is a reliable weapon, it does the job. My friend has a Sigma VE, and I've always liked it. I've never shot it unfortunately, but I've handled it numerous times.

The fit and finish on it were very nice but there was no doubt about the trigger....pure Sigma.

Correction on the name, it's called the "Self Defense" line of pistols. SD9 & SD40.
