Rock Island compact for ccw Anyone?

Now I have my .380 Beretta,my M&P9c now I am looking for one more weapon.
I am interested in the RIA compact .45.Does anyone out there have one, shot one or have any feedback on this model? I have looked at one in local gun shop and like the plain old look and feel. The price range is good for me and looking for a reliable simple .45.Any help on this much appreciated, pics would be even better!!

I'd pull the trigger on it. When I was looking for my first 1911 I checked out the RIA compact model and really liked it, but then the guy showed me the Kimber Ultra and the weight and name "Kimber" made the sell. I'll pick one some day down the road and build on it. I figure it'll make a good build gun and sometimes CC option. Either way, for $500 and below I think it's a bargain for a 1911 .45 ACP. From what I've seen there's very few complaints on the RIA, so that should say something for the quality.

Are the RIA 1911's the best 1911 platform made....of course not, but they are a solid 1911 for the money. I own 1911's from several makers including Colt and Dan Wesson and the RIA gun is just as accurate and has been very reliable. Good buy all around. I upgraded the springs and installed a new Wilson Combat trigger and some new grips and the RIA is good to go.

I have been real pleased with my RIA compact tactical. Little heavy for size but absorbs recoil real well for fast followup shots. Not a Colt but to me good value for $ and dependable one handed/left handed/etc.

I have 300 rounds through mine and it has been wonderful. Sights stink and it's a little heavy, but with a good gun belt you'll have no problems.

I have the RIA in a 3 1/2" model and it is the only pistol I carry as a ccw. It disappears in my waist band with a good belt and a crossbreed supertuck, or even my minotaur holster. Get a good belt and a good to great holster and this gun will not fail you. I have shot all the way out to 75 yards with this thing and it hits where I aim. Albeit the 75 yard shot was with Kentucky windage.

However for CCW purposes the gun is a great buy and I would buy one in a heart beat again. I paid 445.00 out the door for mine.

Ajax or Altamont(spelling?). Think those are Ajax (out of business), latter still in business and better quality IMHO. Little better picture? The gun will shoot better than targets indicate, problem is...I don't.

    My $.02

I've had mine for a few years now with over 1000 flawless rounds.

I use either an IWB (similar to a Supertuck) and a Galco OWB. Both are comfortable, easily concealable, and totally reliable.

Now that I have done some looking around,I like the RIA but heavy.
    I am looking between the Taurus PT145,Kahr CW45 or M&P C45.
So far the best review was the taurus.I had a PT111 9mm and sold it, big mistake, a great shooter!!

I know there is a fan club on here, but there are a lot that will also tell you to stay away from Taurus. Go with the Kahr or M&P.

I carry the Citadel, and a buddy carries his Rock. It's a little heavy, but only a few ounces heavier than my XD with the 13 round clip. If I didn't think the Kahr would be painful to shoot, I'd consider one.
