Does anybody carry or own one of these?
Are they reliable?
Are there any issues with the the lock like on S&W pistols?
How big are they compared to a Glock 26?
Would they make a good IWB CCW?

Got a 2" 617 and LOVE it. 7 rounds of .357 mag. in a lightweight, 2" ported barrel "K" frame with Ribber grips - what's not to love. I changed my grips out to Trackers which fit my hand and I love the finger grooves. The recoil is very manageable and it's as accurate as a snubby can be. I love the gray titanium finish, too.
It's a revolver - you pull the trigger and it goes BANG. Mine has been totally reliable.
Can't say about the Glock.
Haven't had any problems with the lock (which I don't use).
The cylinder is a little big for IWB unless you buy bigger pants, IMO.
I use mine for shop/yard carry in a shoulder holster.
I have one - not ported. It's the only Taurus I own. I've polished up some of the lockwork and re-sprung it with Wolff springs and have added the Houge Tracker Grip. as well. It's very smooth. It's a decent gun. I also agree it's a bit wide for IWB...most guns don't work IWB for me anyway. The holster I have for it is a Fist OWB #9 Basic. I did have one issue with trigger reset when new, but everything I've done to it cured that. I am not a fan of lightweight revolvers - all in all, pretty happy with it except I would have preferred the polished stainless model of a few years back.
You might also want to look at Rossi 461/462 too before making your final decision.

Had one as a 'gator' gun for kayaking. When using .38's it was fine, but with .357's it was a handful.OMO
Sold it to get into Kimbers.....years back!

No problems.
Everyone told me that it's not a good gun for conceal carry..... baloney. I conceal carry it all the time and it's any easy gun to conceal IWB.
Shoots good. The wheel lock is fine, no issues with the key lock either.
I have the ribber grips, which I really like and reduces the recoil well.

I used to have one and it was my first decent handgun. I sold it for personal reasons, though I enjoyed it for the short time I had it.

Yea, I put Wolff springs in mine, too. I also have the Rossi 461. It's much heavier and only carries 6 rounds. The machining on the inside of mine was so rough that the trigger would not reliably reset and it had to go back. I WILL say that Taurus/Rossi honors their warranty and it was returned within a month, completely fixed. Other than that, it shoots great.
I've had mine for about 7 years. I don't carry it regularly but see no problem in doing so.Taurus 617

Mine has been. In spite of some of the Taurus horror stories most of the reviews I have read about the 617 have been +.Are they reliable?
I've had no issues with the lock but just like on the S&Ws it's not something I find any use for. At least on the 617 it's largely out of sight. Are there any issues with the the lock like on S&W pistols?
Can't speak to that. Not a Glock owner. Probably an apples/oranges comparison IMO.How big are they compared to a Glock 26?
Not in my opinion but then I just don't like carrying revolvers IWB. YMMV.Would they make a good IWB CCW?
