    good question!... I find that blueing wears out and much harder to maintain for a carry gun. Stainless/Nickel is easier IMO to keep up.

    I figured they don't look as mean or as appealing to the eye.

    Once upon a time, I saw an SP101 on a gun review site that had a gray coating. Not sure if it was a special order or after-market, but it did look pretty sharp.

    They made one that was "Target Gray"....or something like that. I think Gemini Customs can give it a fairly similar color.

    I like blued better, but IMO stainless is easier to maintain. I believe that the SP101 blued should look very sharp.

    Alternative blued Ruger

    They do make the GP100 in a blued version with a 3 inch barrel. It is slightly larger than the SP101 but bears a Ruger resemblance and can be carried concealed.

    I would have one in a second if they came out in the blued...........I am still considering the stainless version, then put some nice looking Hogue "Finger Groove " wood grips on it.
    I am considering the SP101 for my wife, with wood grips......she just loved my new GP100 Royal Phoenix ........it is just a little too big for her smaller hand....

    Because Ruger makes gorgeous stainless revolvers. I've got three of them.

    But I'm really liking that blued 3" GP-100! If I ever get another revolver, that may be the one!

    Pogo2, I hope you don't mind I stole your photo, buddy! I couldn't resist, but I have to give you credit. I'm now in love with that gun! I never knew they made a blued version.

    Hi Pogo;

    I like blue better, wear be hanged. That's an attractive Ruger DA revolver.

    Maybe I'm mistaken, but I could have sworn they made a limited run or distributor special at one time that was blued. I don't ever recall actually seeing one though, so it might just be my imagination.
