Just brought home a S&W Nickel 36-1, 3" bl, steel frame revolver.

I found this at the local gun shop that I checkout about every two weeks or so. I've been looking for one for about a year with no success when out of the blue one pops up. Its in great shape. Cylinder is tight, trigger is smooth and the grips are like new. There are a very few relatively minor scratches on the frame but for a gun manufactured in 1977, I can live with them. I can't wait to see how it shoots.

Nice. I've had several S&W revolvers. They're great. Congratulations. What kind of ammo will you feed it?

Three inchers from that era are pretty rare too. Congratulations!

    Cool

Back in 1972 the detective bureau in the department that I was with bought one for our captain as a birthday gift. It had the pinned barrel like yours. You brought back some found memories of a good boss who has sinced passed away.

Thanks to all for the comments. I'm not sure what I'm gonna feed it yet. I'll just use some basic .38 spl ammo to see how she operates and then determine what defensive ammo I'll use. The grips are in great shape and are the J frame target size. I'm sure they'll help cut down some of the recoil as will the steel frame. I own a 638 airweight and use oversized grips for the same reason.

Looks like a good find, everytime I go in a gunstore I look for a decent deal on an old Smith revolver, I've kinda go a hankering for one. Looks like you find a prime specimen.
