Yikes! I remember when I hit 30 and I thought life was over as I knew it. These days I would give anything to be that age again, 'but only if i had a brain'. Anyway, I take it you're not married, or perhaps she allowed you to save up and actually buy it without the dreaded wife guilt trip. Either way, it is a sight to look at. Now comes the expensive part... Holsters, belts, add-ons' and so forth.

I'm not too worried about the age thing. Just a nice excuse to get myself something nice that I should have the rest of my life. I've been eyeing a 1911 for a long time anyway. I am divorced but have a girlfriend. I've been saving some overtime money in order to be able to purchase without affecting the budget. I just ordered a Crossbreed Supertuck in horsehide last night. I have a Milt Sparks VMII for my Glock 19 and have been very happy with it though so I will have to decide if I like the Supertuck better or if I need to save for another VMII.

Happy birthday to you, indeed! When we get back to the states, I'm going to start saving up for the very same thing!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! I'm pretty excited about this new gun. I just picked up two boxes of Federal FMJ to start breaking it in. Anyone else have this Springer? Curious what defense loads everyone is using in them as well.

I've run several different defense loads (Federal, Hornady. Remington, Winchester, Cor-Bon, Speer) throught my Ultra Compact and it digested them all. Most of the better PD loads work well.
