My wife decided on getting a handgun a couple of weeks ago and had a lot of trouble using the slide on all semi autos she tried.
She finally settled on a Ruger SP101 .357 and just loves it (likes .38 spl.). She also got a couple of speedloaders and is happy with them.
Practices with it most every evening!
Revolvers are usually good right or left handed.
Plus Charter Arms makes a left handed snub nose. Reliable, fair priced and easy to learn manual of arms. Just make sure he practices with it until he he accurate at 21 feet.

Data point: The only semi-auto pistol that has done this is a badly tuned 1911 with mismatched springs. No other pistol has ever done this to me, let alone "almost any" of them.
Your best weapon is your brain. Don't leave home without it.
Thoughts: Justifiable self defense.
Explain: How does
disarming victims
reduce the number of victims?
Reason over Force: The Gun is Civilization (Marko Kloos).

Are there any issues with the price ?? If not, an H&K p2000 or the compact version p2000sk. Ambi-controls and an absolute pleasure to conceal and shoot...Good Luck.
