Very nice. Did you mention who did this great work? I didn't see it in any of your post.
Also, the Mil Spec has a lowered and flared ejection port as well as a beveled mag well, per Springfield's custom gun shop rep I spoke with.

In the thread title: Grayguns, Inc. Although most people think of Bruce Gray as a SIG gunsmith these days, he has been doing 1911s for a very long time, and in fact developed some of the modern tactical mods (during his IPSC career) that we take for granted these days. Right now, most of the 1911 work out of GGI is being done by Roy Nelson, who worked over both the GSR and this Springfield.
Well, we had the magwell beveled as part of this work; it didn't come that way. As for the ejection port, does this constitute lowered and flared? Also, the Mil Spec has a lowered and flared ejection port as well as a beveled mag well, per Springfield's custom gun shop rep I spoke with.

So, I went and did the obvious thing---called Springfield. Since the only other guns I ever tried to get manufacturer info on were SIGs, and it takes like 20 minutes just to get a SIG CS rep on the phone to tell you they now charge for that information, it hadn't occurred to me I could get the straight dope in under 2 minutes. Way to go, Springfield customer service!
Mil-Spec, manufactured June 1994.
I do believe you are right, Seraph. That sounds like what I recall reading about it before.
