Grayguns Springfield 1911A1 Mil-Spec (Pictures!)

A little gun porn to help everyone through the week. This is my g/f's Springfield 1911A1 GI. She bought is used and just got it back from a thorough makeover at Grayguns, where I send her GSR for custom work last year.

Lots of replaced parts, action work, GGI hardtail conversion, beveled magwell, Dawson fiber optic sights (which required dovetail cuts in the slide), fixed a rail alignment issue, took out the full length guide rod, new thinline VZ grips, replaced 2-part barrel with a single-piece, and had the whole thing refinished in SuperBlack.

I think it looks pretty awesome, personally, and it is a real tackdriver. The trigger is, well, wow...

(And title edited, thanks to those who pointed out it is, in fact, a Mil-Spec and not a Government.)

Yeah, that was a part the gunsmith picked out for us, and I have to agree. That just looks sleek.

That is a beautiful pistol. One question though, my stock GI has no full-length guide rod. Are you sure it was a GI model? In any event, great pistol!

Wow. This is a sweet looking gun. I keep scrolling over the pictures! Just curious, and you don't have to answer, but how much would one expect to pay for a set of modifications similar to yours? If you got the gun used and the fixing was not too expensive it sounds like you hit the jackpot.

Classic!!! Perfectly done with regard to form and function. Beautiful, yet not overdone, and much more than utilitarian. That's my dream 1911. Very classy indeed. Nice work. I can't quit looking at the pictures...I can just imagine looking at it in hand.
